56 percent polling in Betul
Bhopal, Apr 12: About 55.90 per cent of the nearly 11 lakh
electorate exercised their franchise on Saturday for the Lok
Sabha by-election in Madhya Pradesh's Betul constituency.
According to the Chief Election Officer's office, no untoward
incident was reported during the polling.
Two more SIMI activists nabbed
Bhopal, Apr 12: In its ongoing drive against the banned outfit
Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), Madhya Pradesh police
on Saturday arrested two more SIMI activists from Indore. City
Superintendent of Police Sanjay Singh said Mohammed Shahid and
Burhanpur-resident Syed Iqbal were arrested today. They were
involved in raising money for SIMI. Syed had been arrested
earlier also for allegedly having connections with SIMI.
PIL dismissed, fine on petitioner
Indore, Apr 12: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has dismissed a
Public Interest Litigation (PIL) relating to land acquisition
for setting up Special Economic Zone in Indore and imposed cost
of Rs 15,000 on the petitioners saying an effort has been made
to play foul with the basic norms of PIL.
Adequate power supply to be ensured
Bhopal, Apr 12: The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has
said that adequate power supply should be ensured in rural areas
during the summer season. He asked the officers to explore the
possibilities of purchasing power from other states apart from
supplying single-phase power to rural areas for at least 12
hours a day.
Food grains on cheaper price from Apr 15
Bhopal, Apr 12: Mukhya Mantri Annapurna Yojana would be launched
in the state on April 15 through which families living below
poverty line would be supplied wheat at the reduced rate of Rs
three per kg and rice at the rate of Rs 4.50 per kg from
government fair price shops.
