Congress not confident of getting figure
Bhopal, Mar 13: Madhya Pradesh Congress is optimistic but not
confident of getting the requisite number of legislators in its
favour for winning its own candidate in Rajya Sabha elections
scheduled on March 20. Former Advocate General Vivek Tankha is
likely to be Congress candidate.
Himanshu threatens
fast unto death
Bhopal, Mar 13: Himanshu Sabharwal, son of Professor HS
Sabharwal has threatened to go on a fast unto death from March
20, if his demand for a CBI probe into his father's death was
not met. In an open letter written to Chief Minister Shivraj
Singh Chouhan, Himashu said “If my demand for handing over the
case to CBI was not met within seven days from now i.e. by March
20, I am going to fast until death for the cause of justice.”
Third supplementary budget passed
Bhopal, Mar 13: The Madhya Pradesh Assembly on Thursday passed
by voice vote third supplementary budget of Rs 2070.36 crore for
the fiscal 2007-08 after brief debate. Finance minister Raghavji
strongly denied the charges of opposition that huge funds
provided in the supplementary demands at the fag end of the
financial year were being siphoned off through corrupt means.
Ensure adequate drinking water: CM
Bhopal, Mar 13: The Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to ensure adequate drinking
water to the people of the state in the next three months of
summer season. He said that requisite funds would be provided
for drinking water arrangements in rural as well as urban areas.
The Chief Minister reviewed the situation of drinking water
supply at a meeting at his Assembly office here today.
Janani scheme benefits
1,6,421 women
Bhopal, Mar 13: A total of 1,6,421 women have been extended
benefit of Janani Suraksha Yojana launched in the state for
promoting institutional delivery. Under the scheme a pregnant
woman of rural area is given Rs 1,400 for institutional delivery
and her urban counterpart gets Rs 1,000.
