Jabalpur, Mar 14: A fast track court has awarded a life term to a police official for killing his son, who tried to resist him for molesting his wife. The Prosecution said a resident of Civil Lines, head constable Kanchhedilal Thakur, who frequently molested his son Brajesh's wife, axed him to death on May 1, 2007.

 

3 nabbed for vandalism

Barwani, Mar 14: Three miscreants have been arrested for vandalising a religious place in this district's Sendhwa town. Superintendent of Police Praveen Mathur said the trio was apprehended for damaging a shrine in the wee hours. They were sent in judicial custody today.

Bhopal, Mar 14: The State Forest Minister has finally sacked the Director Van Vihar National Park following the death of a white tigress on Friday. The Van Vihar is under fire for its shoddy care of wild animals in the recent past. The situation was so pathetic that as many as 14 big cats have lost their lives at Van Vihar due to various reasons in the last one and half years.

Bhopal, Mar 14: Tough contest for the third seat of Rajya Sabha is likely in Madhya Pradesh, while the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is confident of winning two seats. Bhopal, Mar 14: Samajwadi Party (SP) legislator Narayan Tripathi on Friday alleged in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly that valuable time during Question Hour is wasted on trivial issues and not all questions are taken up as a result. Rejecting the allegations of wastage of time, Speaker Ishwardas Rohani pointed out that on several occasions not only all the questions were taken up but a second round was carried out.

 

Tribal families being evicted from Lanjhi

Bhopal, Mar 14: The opposition members on Friday said in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly that several tribal families had been evicted by the district authorities from their native villages in Lanji tahsil of Balaghat district to cover up corruption in the Forest department, while the government claimed the tribals fled their houses on their own due to naxal activities.
