No problem in Bharat Ratna to Atal: Scindia
Bhopal, Jan 15: Member of Parliament from Guna Jyotiraditya
Scindia has said that there is no problem in giving Bharat Ratna
to politicians. He was talking to media persons before flagging
off Indore-Amritsar Express at Indore on Tuesday. Talking about
the controversy over Bharat Ratna to Atal Bihari Vajpayee,
Scindia said, “I don’t see any problem in it. Being in politics
also increases their chances of getting this topmost award.”
BJP in election mode, election cell opened
Bhopal, Jan 15: The ruling BJP is on election mode, as the
election year has commenced. The party has already established
an election cell in the state party headquarters and initiated
efforts for election management. State BJP vice president Anil
Dave has been appointed in-charge of this cell. After facing
defeats in Sanwer assembly and Khargone Lok Sabha by-elections,
the BJP has formed a separate cell ahead of the elections. Those
who had played pivotal role in bringing BJP to power in the year
2003 are being searched.
Criminology conference at NLIU from Jan 18
Bhopal, Jan 15: The Draft proposal of the National Criminal
justice Policy would be presented during the proposed All India
Criminology conference at National Law Institute University,
Bhopal from January 18 to 20. The meet for the first time in the
country would pitch for devising Victim Justice System. More
than 500 delegates along with the law experts from India and
abroad would participate in the function to discuss issues like
the law against rape, domestic violence, sexual harassment of
women, children and dalits etc.
Sagar Central jail seems to be picnic spot
Sagar, Jan 15: With beautiful gardens, colourful fountains and
creative works by inmates, the central jail in Sagar divisional
headquarters resembles nothing less than a picnic spot.
Sprawling an expanse of 40 acre, the about-150-year-old jail has
10 gardens and six fountains besides several temples built with
the help of jail inmates. While fruits and vegetables are
produced in these gardens, prisoners had carved out attractive
pictures of deities on temples.
Last rites PTA President performed
Sagar, Jan 15: The last rites of Parent Teacher Association
(PTA) President Shivprasad Ahirwar, who immolated himself in the
'Janta Durbar' of BJP MP Virendra Singh, was performed here on
Tuesday. Ahirwar had attempted to immolate himself on January 7
in accordance to an earlier announcement in this regard to
protest in support of his demand for construction of a school
building.
