Betul outcome to impact assembly polls
Bhopal, Apr 17: The Betul by-election outcome is to impact
assembly elections scheduled in November this year. Buoyed by
Betul result, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is likely to
have a greater say in ticket distribution. The results have
given Chief Minister a scope to be assertive in preparing ground
for the assembly elections. The performing MLAs would be given
ticket and non-performing to be denied.
Collection of idols of Goddesses
Gwalior, Apr 17: The Gujri Palace museum near the historical
Gwalior Fort in Madhya Pradesh has an astonishing collection of
idols of Goddesses, dating back from the seventh to the
sixteenth century. The sculptures, carved in Balua sand stones
and red stones, mainly consist of goddesses worshipped in the
bygone age. Archaeologists had found the idols at various sites
in the area.
Policy for multiplexes and cinema halls
Bhopal, Apr 17: With a view to encouraging construction of
multiplexes and converting existing cinema houses to
multiplexes, the Madhya Pradesh government today decided to
grant exemption in entertainment tax and electricity duty on
multiplexes. Exemption would be granted from the date of the
first screening of a film in any of the cinema houses in a
multiplex with 100 per cent exemption in the first, second and
third years, 75 per cent in the fourth and 50 per cent in the
fifth.
Exemption for power projects
Bhopal, Apr 17: The state cabinet has decided to amend the
provision relating to exemption in stamp duty under Incentive
Policy for projects of power generation through non-conventional
sources. Besides, several other important decisions were taken.
At present, 50 per cent exemption in stamp duty would be given
on the purchase of land for setting up project to generate power
through non-conventional sources of energy but the concession
would be withdrawn if such a project is not established on this
land.
Group of Ministers’ meeting on Gas
Bhopal, Apr 17: State Minister for Gas Tragedy Relief and
Rehabilitation Health Ajay Vishnoi following the meting with the
group of ministers formed by the Union Government charged that
the Union Government is not fulfilling its responsibility for
addressing the problems of the gas affected people.
