State govt falling short of expectations: Ahmed
Bhopal, Jan 18: Accusing Madhya Pradesh's Bharatiya Janata Party
regime of falling short of public expectation, Union Minister of
State for Communication and Information Technology Shakeel Ahmad
today said people were vexed over several problems including
corruption. “The government has failed on the development, law
and order and minorities' security fronts. Even the chief
minister and his family members are charged with corruption,” he
added.
Welfare schemes for poorest sections
Bhopal, Jan 18: Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Madhya Pradesh government is
implementing with a rapid pace many welfare schemes for the
economic uplift of poorest sections of society. Glimpse of God
is seen in the service of the downtrodden. Keeping this in view,
the state government is undertaking programmes for the welfare
of those people who are poorest and are standing in the last
row.
MPUSP being
implemented Rs 350 crore
Bhopal, Jan 18: A five-year
(2006-11) programme Madhya Pradesh Urban Services for the Poor (MPUSP)
is being implemented with financial aid of Rs 350 crore from
DFID of the British Government in the state. Nearly half of the
funds of DFID assisted programme are being spent on development
works being carried out in the slums of four cities including
Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore and Jabalpur. The remaining amount is
being spent on carrying out slum improvement works in other
urban local bodies.
50 percent reservation
to women in panchayat
Vidisha, Jan 18: The Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that 50 percent offices in urban
civic bodies and three-tier panchayats would be reserved for
women in Madhya Pradesh. He was addressing a women empowerment
convention here on Friday. The Chief Minister said that now
women do not lag behind in any field including administration. A
Rani Durgawati Battalion has been raised in which women are
being recruited. This would ensure availability of a woman
constable in every police station, he added.
Youth Parliament held at St Joseph's Co-Ed
Bhopal, Jan 18: Pt Kunjilal Dubey
National Parliamentary Academy organised a 'Youth Parliament' at
St Joseph's Co-Ed School conference hall on Friday. MP State
Women's Commission Chairperson Krishnakanta Tomar was the chief
guest on the occasion. The conference hall of the school looked
like a parliament as the students dressed like people’s
representatives had occupied it. Forty students had been
selected for the purpose. One student acted as the Speaker,
while others acted as members of the ruling party and the
opposition.
