Excide dept revenue

Bhopal, Mar 31: The Madhya Pradesh government is expected to net in excise revenue of Rs 1613.24 crore in 2008-09 through auction of 3382 liquor shops, including 2677 of country liquor. The revenue was expected to be 18 percent higher than Rs 1367.61 crore earned during 2007-08.

 

Doctors' Protection Act

Jabalpur, Mar 31: The Indian Medical Association's (IMA) Jabalpur unit has demanded the Madhya Pradesh Government to implement the Doctors' Protection Act on the lines of Andhra Pradesh in view of incidents of beating up and vandalism in nursing home and hospital premises by the relatives of deceased patients.

Bhopal, Mar 31: The CPI would stage a two-day nationwide 'Jail Bharo Andolan' to protest against the spiraling inflation on April 17. Bhopal, Mar 31: Continuing its ongoing drive against the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), Madhya Pradesh police once again struck at several hideouts of this banned outfit and arrested seven SIMI activists from Indore and Ujjain.

 

Facilities to industry caused loss of Rs 1.24 cr

Bhopal, Mar 31: Waiver of additional premium and surcharge, in violation of government orders, in allotment of land by the Madhya Pradesh Audyogik Kendra Vikas Nigam (AKVN) Bhopal to an industrial unit at Mandideep resulted in loss of revenue of Rs 1.24 crore to the company, says a report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

 

White paper on spiraling prices demanded

Bhopal, Mar 31: National BJP president Rajnath Singh accusing the UPA government at the Centre of failing to check spiralling prices of essential commodities demanded a White Paper on the issue. He alleged that corruption and economic policies of the government were responsible for rising inflation.

 

Togadia terms 'jehadi' terrorism dangerous

Gwalior, Mar 31: VHP International General Secretary Praveen Togadia described 'jehadi' terrorism as dangerous for the country and said police should be granted army rights to tackle the menace. Talking to reporters here on Monday, Togadia expressed concern over activities of banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) continuing. He alleged that SIMI activists were receiving local support.

 

FIR against four cops in abetment case

Bhopal, mar 31: Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Sagar district registered a case under various sections of the IPC against four cops including an ASI for allegedly abetting a vendor to commit suicide in police custody. Earlier, the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission, after hearing the case, had suggested reforms in police’s working and also recommended constitution of a special vigilance team to inspect police stations across the state.
