Attack on police team

Bhind, May 14: A group of armed people attacked police and excise department personnel and looted 300 cases of illicit liquor, which was recovered by them from this district's Ano village, in Angori area. A case was registered against a liquor contractor's kin Guddu Tomar, Yashpal Singh Tomar and five other unidentified people.

 

Four killed in mishap

Narsinghpur, May 14: A motor cycle collided with a truck, which later overturned killing four people on the spot at village Simaria. The accident occurred yesterday in Tendukheda police station limits of the district, the police added. The victims have been identified as Mohan Vishwakarma (45), Mahesh Sen (35) Durga Prasad Mehra (30).

 

Security at Mahakal temple

Ujjain, May 14: Security has been beefed up at the Mahakal temple here in the wake of serial bomb blasts in the crowded market area of Jaipur city last night. A Bomb disposal squad has been deployed at temple premises and a strict vigil is being maintained on those coming to the temple, Ujjain range Inspector General of Police MP Dwivedi said.

Bhopal, May 14: Income Tax Department on Wednesday issued notices to four ministers of Shivraj government for failure to file return of their income. The Department has also issued notice of penalty to these Ministers for failure to furnish returns.

 

Agitation against step-motherly treatment

Bhopal, May 14: Madhya Pradesh BJP alleged that the Centre was meting out step-motherly treatment to the state and the party had chalked out a strategy to start a widespread campaign against this. Talking to media persons after the conclusion of the two-day state BJP executive meeting, state BJP president Narendra Singh Tomar said the Centre had not given up its step-motherly treatment even after 24-hour hunger strike by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, cabinet members and state party office-bearers.

 

BJP demands implementing POTA

Bhopal, May 14: Condemning serial bomb blasts that rocked Jaipur city last night, the Madhya Pradesh BJP today said the Centre must implement the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) again to curb terrorism. A resolution criticising terrorism was passed on the last day of the two-day meeting of the state BJP executive.

 

Power tariff revision for power looms

Bhopal, May 14: The state cabinet which met in the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took several decisions on Wednesday. In order to spare the low consumption, power loom and farm consumers the burden of upward revision of power tariff by Electricity Regulatory Commission the cabinet has decided to supply power to them at subsidized rates.

 

Bal Sanjivani Abhiyan from Thursday

Bhopal, May 14: Twelfth phase of Bal Sanjivani Abhiyan would get underway throughout the state from May 15 for bringing down level of malnutrition among children. The campaign to be conducted by Woman and Child Development Department would continue up to June 15, 2008. The implementation report of the campaign would be submitted by districts at directorate level by June 30, 2008.
