Governor for ceremonial convocation
Bhopal: Chancellor and Governor Rameshwar Thakur has instructed universities' vice-chancellors that convocations of their respective institutions should be held every year in a graceful manner. He told the vice-chancellors to set the date of convocation this year and intimate him about it at the earliest. Thakur gave these instructions while talking to Principal Secretary Higher Education Sewa Ram on the higher education setup and arrangements at the Raj Bhawan here today. Those present on the occasion included Rajiv Gandhi Technological University (RGTU) vice-chancellor Prof Piyush Trivedi, vice-chancellor of Barkatullah University Prof. Ravindra Jain, vice-chancellor of Bhoj Open University Prof. SK Singh and Secretary to the Governor KK Singh.
During the discussion, Governor Thakur said that the Standing Committee meeting should be convened at the earliest for taking decision on the issues, which remained pending after the meeting of Coordination Committee on June 26. It will be responsibility of the Standing Committee to submit a report on these issues with its explicit opinion so that these issues can be disposed of by convening a meeting of the Coordination Committee. Thakur informed that meeting that a joint meeting of vice-chancellors, chairman of University Grants Commission and its office-bearers and State government's representatives will be held within two months. Necessary unanimous decisions will be taken at this meeting on educational and financial management of universities. Thakur gave instructions to make arrangements for brightening the future of higher education students. He said that such an atmosphere of higher education should be created in the state in which students can imbibe best education.
