Gang rape case takes new turn
Bhopal: The sensational Bhopal gang rape case on Wednesday took a dramatic turn when the Mumbai-based bar dancer victim disclosed that the man whom she had earlier stated as her husband also sexually assaulted her with two other men in the moving Sports Utility Vehicle. Police sources said that the victim, 25, who was native of Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh but settled down in Mumbai, disclosed various surprising facts in her preliminary interrogations here.
The woman, who had earlier alleged that she was gang raped on June 17 in the moving vehicle here in front of her husband on gun point, during the interrogation conceded that the man Pramod with whom she had come here was not her husband and he also sexually assaulted her in the vehicle. She alleged that she was staying in Mumbai for last five-six years and met Pramod only a month back. Pramod brought her to Bhopal in a tour and assured her of Rs 20,000 as payment in return. The duo stayed in a hotel together and on June 17, Pramod took her to an Ashram and later talked to somebody on phone, soon, a black SUV boarded by three people, including the driver, came there.
Pramod introduced the woman to two occupants of the car, Rajesh and Sanjay, and in the name of visiting the state capital, she along with Pramod boarded the vehicle. The woman alleged that when the car started moving, Rajesh and Sanjay started molesting her and on protesting she was gang raped by them with Pramod on gun point. Later, she and Pramod alighted from the SUV and the latter threatened her that if she revealed this to anybody then her mother would be killed. Taking lift from a two-wheeler, the duo reached the police station and registered a complaint that they were a married couple and she was raped by Rajesh and Sanjay in the SUV by pointing gun at her husband.
