CM reviews minority deptt activities

Bhopal: The State Government is contemplating a plan to establish post-matric hostels for students belonging to backward classes at some selected district headquarters in the state. In the first phase of the plan, the Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department has proposed to set up these hostels in eight districts. The estimated cost of construction of such a hostel is Rs 2 crore. Efforts are being made to seek funds from the Government of India for implementation of this scheme.
This information was given at a review meeting of Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department at the Mantralaya, here on Monday. The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired the meeting. The issues which came up for discussions at the meeting relate to setting up of a counseling centre for minority communities, construction of Haj House at Bhopal and Indore and the measures to remove the difficulties being faced by the Bahawalpuriya community.
The Minister for Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare, Ajay Vishnoi informed that pre-examination coaching is being imparted to the students of backward classes through the MPCON at 12 places for PMT, PET and other technical fields. The Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana has been introduced for the backward classes and training scheme has been implemented for educated unemployed. Further, hostels have been sanctioned for economically weaker girls of backward classes in all the 50 districts of the state. Of these, 32 such hostels have already been constructed. At the meeting, the Chief Minister Chouhan also released a booklet on scholarship scheme for minority communities’ students. Besides the senior departmental officers, the meeting was also attended by the Secretaries to the Chief Minister Anurag Jain and SK Mishra.
