PDS reforms in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is going to introduce the most important reform in the targeted public distribution system. This scheme has been named as 'Ration at doorstep'. Initially, the scheme will be launched in Bhopal and Mandla from October 2. Principal Secretary Ashok Das has instructed the collector of Bhopal to evolve its outlines at the earliest.

CAs should contribute in country building

Bhopal: Governor Rameshwar Thakur has said that chartered accountants should actively contribute to reconstruction of the country. The Governor was inaugurating 31st regional conference of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India at Samanway Bhawan here on Saturday. Thakur stressed the need for timely and proper audit of schemes and projects with a view to strengthening Indian economy.

Sexual harassment cells be more effective

Bhopal: The State Women Commission has said that the committees set up against sexual harassment in government offices should be more active. If the committee has not been set up in any office it should be done immediately. The women prisoners who are set free from the jails should be given economic assistance of Rs 50,000.

Banks asked to provide facility to farmers

Bhopal: Chief Minister Chouhan has urged the banks to provide credit facilities at lower interest rates to farmers, small entrepreneurs and artisans doing small business or engaged in service sector. He also urged the banks to take steps for opening a bank branch for 1,000 population in rural areas.

No dearth of funds for healthy MP

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that there is no dearth of funds to make Madhya Pradesh healthy and free from malnutrition. Attributing malnutrition to persisting poverty, he said the Atal Child Health and Nutrition Mission will help address the problem. He was addressing a consultation workshop on designing strategy for Atal Child Health and Nutrition Mission here on Friday.

Rahul not a charismatic leader

Bhopal: Launching an attack on Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, BJP President Nitin Gadkari said he did not believe him to be a charismatic leader. “Gandhi could not show any miracle in previous Lok Sabha elections,” Gadkari told reporters here. Cheese to be exported to Europe

Bhopal: A plant producing cheese from goat milk will start production at Khajuraho in Chhattarpur district from first week of September. This will be the first and biggest plant in Asia and the cheese produced here will be exported to European countries. Agreements to this effect have already been signed. As many as 300 persons will get direct employment at the plant. Along with this 200 more families will also get employment with related trades.

Secondary education plan approved

Bhopal: The executive committee of Madhya Pradesh Secondary Education campaign at its meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, Avani Vaish approved an annual action plan of Rs 2060 crore for implementation of Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan for year 2010-11. The plan would be forwarded to the Central Government for approval.

Over 2000 more houses for gas victims

Bhopal: The Gas Relief and Rehabilitation Department will construct over 2,000 houses at a cost of Rs 40 crore for the widows of those who died in the world's worst industrial disaster that occurred in Bhopal in 1984. For this, the department has sought 25 acre land from the district administration.
