Vatsala, centre of attraction in Panna

Bhopal: The 90-year-old female elephant Vatsala is showering her motherly affection on all the elephants of Panna Tiger Reserve. Though Vatsala has never given birth to any calf, she showers her affection on all the elephants and their offspring. Not only this, she also serves as a 'midwife' at the time of delivery of cow elephants.

People urged not to use harmful colours

Bhopal: The state government has urged people not to use harmful chemicals and non-edible colours so that their harmful effects on human body can be prevented. The Principal Secretary, Horticulture Department has sent a circular in this connection to all the departmental officers asking them to suggest alternatives to the people with a view to preventing the use of harmful chemicals.

Abu Salem denies charges in court

Bhopal: Gangster Abu Salem on Wednesday denied all charges against him in the alleged fake passport case and said they were fabricated to ensure his extradition. Salem, whose statement was recorded in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ramgopal Singh claimed that he neither visited Bhopal nor the city municipal corporation office in connection with the fake passport case.

Action on officials if poor deprived

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Public Services Guarantee Act was passed recently to ensure that the justice to the people of all sections of society is provided within time limit. By passing this Act, time limit has been ensured in government office works. He has said that if a poor person is deprived of his rights in the State, action will be taken against the divisional commissioner and district collector of the concerned area.

State for uninterrupted electricity supply

CM suspends 8 officials for negligence

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has given instructions to suspend eight government officials with immediate effect for delay and negligence regarding disposal of applications of common people. These include a collector in-charge, sub divisional officer (Revenue), tehsildar, Patwari and district convenor tribal welfare and three clerks. In a case, he gave instructions to remove Panchayat Secretary. He took the stern action while hearing public grievances through Samadhan online programme here on Tuesday.

Bidders’ meet for feeders’ separation

CBI files curative petition in Apex court

New Delhi: Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday moved a curative petition in the Supreme Court seeking review of its 1996 judgement which had diluted charges against against the accused in 1984 gas tragedy case. Ut demanded restoration of stringent charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, which attracts maximum punishment of a 10-year jail term, against the accused in the gas tragedy case.

Ensure quality health services: CM

Bhopal: The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has given instructions to the authorities concerned to ensure quality health services to the patients in the light of better equipped government hospitals, required nursing staff and new drug policy. He asked the officers concerned to take action for recruitment of 2000 doctors. He said that X ray machines, ultra-sonography and other equipments should be properly maintained. Minister of State for Health Mahendra Hardia was present.

48,801 seats allotted for BE

Bhopal: Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma has on Monday issued allotment of 48,801 seats to BE Courses through online counseling. Apart from this, under NRI quota, admissions were given on 1300 NRI seats. At the first stage itself more than 50 thousand seats of BE Course was filled up. This is a record.
