Bhopal: The Sanjha Chulha Yojana of Women and Child Development Department for providing freshly cooked food for Midday Meal Scheme being run by Rural Development Department will be launched on November 1, which also happens to be establishment day of Madhya Pradesh. This information was given by Minister of State for Women and Child Development (Independent charge) Ranjana Baghel here today.

Improvement in fair price shops

Bhopal: The condition of fair price shops in the state is going to be improved. The state government had been striving in this connection for the last eight months and is now going for the final push from this month. As per the streamlining efforts, now a cooperative society in the urban area will be allotted only one fair price shop so that this sensitive work for the welfare of the poor cannot be manipulated for undue profits.

Bhopal: The Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh has said that he is proud to have born into Kirar Samaj. Chouhan said that the members of this Samaj have carved out a special niche in the Indian society by achieving excellence in their respective fields. He said that now the members of the Samaj are entering other fields as well apart from farming. Chouhan was addressing a function at Ravindra Bhawan here today where monthly magazine 'Kirar Samachar' was released. Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Harvansh Singh was the chief guest while Kirar Mahasabha president Gulab Singh presided over the function.

EOW unearths blue kerosene scam

Bhopal: In a major raid, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has unearthed a major scam of blue kerosene at the Sagar district headquarters. Following this, Minister of State for Food Paraschand Jain has rushed a special investigation team to Sagar for an in-depth probe into the scam. Jain said that the state government has taken this scam very seriously and strict action will be taken against the guilty after receipt of investigation team's report within 48 hours.

Attention must for decreasing girls

Bhopal: Chairperson of Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission Justice Dharmadhikari has said that attention must be given to decreasing number of girl children while pondering over children's state in Madhya Pradesh. The society will suffer heavily due to imbalance in the sex ratio. He pointed out that girl sex ratio is fast depleting in Bundelkhand region. Dharmadhikari expressed these views while releasing a book ' 'MP Child Rights State-2009' here today. The book has been brought out by the institution Child Rights Observatory-MP.

Villagers’ convention for upper lake

Bhopal: A convention of villagers was held at village Magalia today for conservation and augmentation Bhopal's lifeline Upper Lake. Speaking at the convention, Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur exhorted farmers to undertake plantation on the shores of the lake so that soil of their fields does not wash into the lake. They were also urged not to encroach on lands in the catchment areas and give active cooperation in deepening of Upper Lake's feeder rivers Kolans and Uljhavan.

Contradictory statement on threat to CM

Bhopal: Amidst contradictory statements by senior Madhya Pradesh Police officers regarding an alleged Lashkar-e-Taiaba letter threatening the assassination of the Chief Ministers of four states, an officer said an investigation was underway. “The handwritten unsigned letter containing a threat to kill Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Uttarakhand on Diwali (October 17) was obtained by us two days back. It does not contain the leaders' names,” Inspector-General (Law and Order and Security) AK Soni told.
