Metro rail, rights step in Bhopal

Bhopal: Known as 'Metro Man', Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Dr E Sridharan said that the survey for metro rail in the state capital is the right step at the right time by the state government. It may take 6 to 7 years to start metro rail. Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur said that metro rail is most necessary to meet the increasing traffic pressure due to development of the city in all four directions. There is no alternative for metro rail, he said.

Rohani challenges allegations by Congress

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani on Tuesday said he will resign from his post if charges levelled by the main Opposition Congress against him are proved. While talking to media persons after assembly proceedings, Rohani told, “Congress members are levelling baseless charges against the Speaker outside the House. The Congress is in power at the Centre and is free to get the matter inquired by any independent agency, including the Central Bureau of Investigation.”

Ministers for more funds from Centre

Bhopal: Tribal Welfare Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah said that the Central Government should be urged to sanction more funds as per ratio of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes population in proportion to the population of the state. He said that a proposal to this effect should be sent to the Central Government. At the same time proposal should be prepared for new big projects for the areas with more than one lakh population, medium projects for areas with more than 50,000 population and MADA packet for the small tribal villages which are not included in the tribal sub plan.

Rs 50 lakh subsidy to BSF Academy

Gwalior: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced to give Rs 50 lakh as subsidy to Rustamji Technical Institute BSF Academy. He said that special facilities will be provided to the gallantry medal winning jawans and special cell will be constituted to protect interests of family members of the BSF personnel. At a function organised at the passing out parade (convocation parade) of sub inspectors and new constables at the BSF Academy Chouhan said that the country is proud of the BSF jawans who protect the borders of the country without thinking about their own lives.

Boys to get uniforms like girls

Shivpuri: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made an important announcement here today. He announced that like the girl students the boy students studying in schools will also get uniforms from the next academic session. Likewise, the school students will start getting scholarship from Class I onwards. The boy students will get Rs 50 per month and the girl students Rs 75 per month as per the policy decision taken by the government.

CM announces statue of martyr at Chhindwara

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reached the residence of martyr Major Amit Thenge at Chhindwara and laid wreath on his body and paid tribute to him. Major Amit Thenge became martyr during an encounter with terrorists. Chouhan announced that a memorial for Major Thenge will be constructed at Chhindwara.

Bhopal: Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma has instructed to present the proposal regarding filling the vacant posts in engineering colleges, polytechnics and ITIs within a week. Sharma gave these instructions at the meeting of governing bodies of Rewa and Ujjain autonomous engineering colleges. He said that stern action will be taken against officials responsible for delay in filling the vacant posts.

Laxman Singh expelled from BJP

Bhopal: Laxman Singh, former BJP MP and brother of Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, was today expelled from the primary membership of the party, days after he publicly criticised its President Nitin Gadkari. “Singh was expelled with immediate effect due to serious charges of indiscipline and anti-party activities,” State BJP unit President Prabhat Jha told.

Government checking malnutrition

Bhopal: The state government is not only alert about checking malnutrition and infant mortality rate but is also discharging its duties effectively. This information was given here on Thursday by Minister of State for Women and Child Development (independent charge) Ranjana Baghel. The minister said that several important measures have been undertaken in the state to eradicate malnutrition.
