Participate in development valley
Bhopal: Minister of State for Narmada Valley Development and Chairman of Narmada Valley Development Authority KL Agrawal has asked people’s representatives to take full interest and active participation in the holistic development of Narmada Valley. The active participation of people’s representatives would yield important suggestions which may lead to boost the process of Valley Development. He assured that suggestions coming from people’s representatives would be taken care of on priority and decisions would be taken wherever necessary.
Power generation capacity doubled
Bhopal: Minister of State (Independent charge) for Energy and Mineral Resources Rajendra Shukla has informed that the power generation capacity which was 2990 MW in 2003 has been doubled up to 6140 MW now. He further informed that a plan has been chalked out to increase the power generation capacity in Madhya Pradesh by 7325 MW in the next 5 years. During the 11th Five-Year Plan, three units of 1700 MW capacity are proposed to be set up in the state. These include 1200-MW Singaji Thermal Power Plant and two extension units of 500 MW of Satpura Thermal Power Plant.
2000 bio gas plants in tribal villages
Bhopal: The remote tribal villages will have additional 3000 biogas plants by 2010. So far, 2000 bio gas plants have already been set up on demand from households. Realizing the benefits of using biogas plants, the households with a little cattle resource have shown keenness to install biogas plants. Within a little span of one year’s time, 3000 villages under Madhya Pradesh Rural Livelihoods Project (MPRLP) have demonstrated their inclination towards non-renewable energy resource.
MoU for 2640 MW thermal power plant
Bhopal: A Memorandum of Understanding for establishment of a 2640 megawatt super power thermal plant in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Energy (independent charge), Rajendra Shukla and Union Energy Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. Madhya Pradesh Government has agreed to provide 2500 acre land and 25 cusec water from Narmada River for this plant. The MoU was signed by Madhya Pradesh Energy Secretary, SPS Parihar and Technical Director of NTPC, RK Jain.
Decks clear for AIIMS project
Bhopal: The Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh chaired a meeting where all the issues pertaining to the state government about establishment of All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) were resolved. The meeting was held at Chief Minister's official residence. Chouhan instructed that all the hurdles coming in the way of establishment of this national level institute should be removed in a time-bound manner.
DFID urged to increase deadline
Bhopal: At a meeting here today, Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur urged the British High Commissioner Sir Richard Stagg and head of DFID-India Michael Anderson to increase the deadline of Project Utthan till the year 2012. The urban service programme is being implemented with British aid at a cost of Rs 350 crore and its present deadline is 2011. Gaur told the British High Commissioner that project Utthan is being implemented in four cities - Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior.
Consumers to maintain vigil on PDS shops
Bhopal: Lead committees have been one of the impediments in smooth conduct of public distribution system. After a long gap, noose has been tightened around lead committees in the state. Now, their constitution and functioning cannot be made in an arbitrary manner, as per the provisions of the new Food Distribution and Control Order-2009. Arrangements have been made that neither a lead society can be formed or selected nor food grains quota can be allotted to it without government's permission.
Campaign to invite investment
Bhopal: The state government is undertaking a campaign to invite investments from industrialists for state's agriculture and food processing sectors. Dates for programmes to be organised under Destination Madhya Pradesh: Investment Drive Year 2009-10 have been announced. The dates were announced by Industry and Food Processing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on the eve of state's foundation day. As per the announcement, a meeting will be held with North India's prominent investors at New Delhi on November 21. The meeting will be addressed by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Singrauli to be energy capital of country
Singrauli: Inaugurating a mammoth Lok Kalyan and Suchana Shivir here today, the Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Singarauli would be made the Energy Capital of the Country, focusing on the all round development of Singarauli. Describing the roads as the carriers of the development, Chouhan announced that road from Singarauli upto Satna covering Sidhi and Rewa would be developed into a four lane road.
Villagers’ convention for upper lake
Bhopal: A convention of villagers was held at village Magalia today for conservation and augmentation Bhopal's lifeline Upper Lake. Speaking at the convention, Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur exhorted farmers to undertake plantation on the shores of the lake so that soil of their fields does not wash into the lake. They were also urged not to encroach on lands in the catchment areas and give active cooperation in deepening of Upper Lake's feeder rivers Kolans and Uljhavan.
